This week we had a 2-day meeting with hydrology researchers from Stockholm University (Jerker Jarsjö and Imenne Åhlén), to decide methods to produce bathymetric maps of wetlands and to finalise our strategy for flow measurements in the streams. This will be done in ca 20 wetlands (bathymetry) and in the stream Trönningeån (water flow) in the LIFE-Goodstream area and ca 100 more wetlands and 10 more streams outside of LIFE-Goodstream. It is done within our networking project “Constructed wetlands as buffers” together with Stockholm and Lund University (read more at www.biowetland.se). It will give us very useful new data for our LIFE-Goodstream wetlands regarding e.g. buffering capacity and will also provide us with possibilities to compare the LIFE-Goodstream drainage area (Trönningeån) and the measures we have done with 10 other drainage areas in southern Halland in terms of flow reduction and decreased risk for floods. It was a very productive meeting and the photos show part of the field work including trial with a remote-controlled boat with a sonar to map the wetland topography (bathymetry).
