Urban Stormwater Ponds

Urban Storm Water Pond (USP). Particularly in the lower part of the catchment flooding is a problem. One USP will be constructed to mitigate this effect. Storm water ponds can be constructed either to be filled continuously during water level raising in the stream or with the inlet at a higher level with the purpose to collect the very top water flow of the flooding event, as shown in the photos to the right (USP in Scottland).

Photos: The inlet (upper photo) is stabilized by special concrete stones upwards to the pond magazine to the right. The second photo shows  the dry pond and its outlet seen from the down stream end. During dry periods the pond is used for grassing.
